Description
This large and ornate flower is also known by the names Moonflower, Belle of the night and Queen of the night. It is a member of the cactus family and is not native to Hawaii. With its aerial roots it has the ability to climb walls and together the limbs make a fence like structure. The flowers appear in the summer and autumn and are loved by bees and other insects and each flower only appear for a few nights. It produces fruit called pitaya that are yellow.
The flowers open at dusk and close in the morning and so this essence familiarises us with the lunar energies and the darkness of the night. The Hawaiians believe that every new day starts as the sun goes down. Dusk is a transitional time for letting go of all the actions and thoughts of the day so that with the rising of the sun we are refreshed and clear.
The Night blooming cereus does not require the sun light to show us itʻs beauty and to flower. Perhaps we can release the illusion that flowers only need the sunʻs light. Cosmic movement and planetary cycles all play a part in our creation.
The vibration of the essence is preserved in filtered water and vodka at 8.4% alcohol.
