Description
This plant is native to Hawaii. It has a sprawling form and so is excellent ground cover, also stabilising the soil. The underside of the leaves are silvery perhaps a reference to Hina who is Goddess of the moon in Hawaiian cosmology. Pō is the darkness, the foundation and source of life and all ancestorial wisdom. For more information on Pōhinahina
Stems of the leaves and flowers of Pōhinahina can be tied together to be used as a ‘smudge’ stick for clearing and repelling insects. The stems can also be arranged in head leis (lei po’o). Though Pōhinahina is a member of the mint family it has a sage like aroma.
This flower essence was made during a lunar eclipse in 2024. This plant connects particularly with the elements of earth and water.
The vibration of the essence is preserved in filtered water and vodka at 8.4% alcohol.
